Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012
Abu Dhabi becomes the Middle East’s first host Port for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012. The teams are expected to arrive in Abu Dhabi at the end of leg 2 on 01st January 2012. There will be a Pro-AM race on 12th January 2012 and in Port-Race on 13th January 2012 before they continue with the leg 3 from Abu Dhabi to Sanya, China. Abu Dhabi has formed a team for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012.
The organizers will operate a “Destination Village” on the Abu Dhabi Corniche to celebrate the race from 31st December 2011 until 14th January 2012. The top attractions at the Destination Village will include a state-of-the-art stimulator giving the feeling of an onboard Volvo yacht, interactive 3D cinema, air balls, and many more.
